Would've done fine as a 5 minute track. 4/5Face to Face - Great beat, and fun lyrics and vocals.has a bit of a Prince or Michael Jackson vibe. I still find it hard to believe that the sample of "More Spell On You" by Eddie Johns wasn't used in this track (I personally think they got away with using it lol) 5/5Aerodynamic - This song should be on Guitar Hero.the solo is killer.the bell tolling intro and the switch-up toward the end are also a nice touch. 5/5Digital Love - The sample is picked very nicely and meshes well with the thumping beats and vocoder-heavy vocals.this is like part two of "One More Time" 5/5Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - This has gained even more popularity after Kanye West sampled it in 2007.
3/5Short Circuit - The ending is worth it. This is by far the most cohesive album DP has put out during their career. Otherwise, very nice way to close the album out. This induces insane behavior, and even more insane dancing. The Barry Manilow sample is a little humorous, but adds to the life of the song. Really.
5/5Crescendolls - HEY. I think that's what makes it stand out from their other albums, which tend to go all over the place sound wise. It's the only passable track here, but even it isn't a bad one. 4/5Something About Us - Chill vibe.kind of a part two of Nightvision with vocals.pout yourself an icy glass of something, or kiss your girl to this lol 5/5Voyager - Not a standout track, but engaging bass line, and nicely added keys toward the end. Nice track, though a bit repetitive, the groove is strong, and gives a feel a la fashion show. 5/5High Life - No sample credit in this. 5/5Too Long - Is wayyyy too long. 3.5/5Classic DP album, go cop that.
Still good albums, but not as good as Discovery. 5/5Nightvision - I only wish it was longer. This is very weird and crazy, so if you're into that sort of electronic style you can get down with this. One More Time - Everyone and your mama has heard this song.has a real celebratory feel to it, and it utilizes auto-tune in the format it was made for. 4/5Veridis Quo - Also, not a standout. 5/5Superheroes - Put on your cape, and zoom around with the energy of this one. Great robotic, electronic music, with some seriously talented use of the vocoder once again. Chill music, provides a soft break from the high energy of the first five cuts.
Without the experimental sound element and the slight distance in their music, Daft punk would be one of the many, more common bass drum thump-thump-thump club artists. The whole album is great. It is a song that leans slightly more toward Daft Punk's experimental sound side. The Amazon review and a few others dislike the song Short Circuit on this album. It is one of my favorites.
I don't doubt they couldn't but why. There's a reason we haven't had a New Full-fledged album treating from them since Human After All.they obviously are still drawing in their ever growing fans through the distillment and exposure to their past 3 albums and only albums to date. Reveiewing their career at this point, I believe they have always been following the truest Artist's path, and through Dance Music to Avant-Garde Film Making, they are excelling and reaching new artistic levels.
and they have indeed signed to a NEW, INDIE label and are working with an unspecified Los Angeles Management Group. All of the songs here in Discovery are classics, of course. And since we are reviewing let's bring it up to date.as we've noticed since their debut, the Daft trend of album releasing.Homework (March 1997)Discovery (March 2001)Human After All (March 2005)A four year in between pattern had assumed the format, but as for this year, 2009, we have yet to see what will happen in Daft Punk history. For now we know the Concerts are Legend, seen by all over the World,The Movie, internationally received, panned by many as a startling beginning of().what will be the 2009 Daft Punk Odyssey. As they would like it.patiently wait and see.Oh yes, and one of the Members does Live in L.A.
There is something to be said about the detail and perfection that went into producing this album. If you haven't seen ELECTROMA, by all means do, it is essential for all fans and anyone born in the Gen X/Y bracket (for me, Mid 80's).I totally see why now they are masters of anything they grace. They have made absolute masterpieces with complex simplicity and far-reaching pop culture statement.
So they have settled, mostly in the Southwestern United States, much like their Movie has hinted at ().California should be grateful and appreciative, that we have the privilage of Daft Punk possibly making the West Coast their new workplace (will they record in the U.S.). Whether it be the samples or the layering or the hooks and song structure reminisent of previous classic albums from past Generations, Daft Punk needn't make an album this perfect again.unless they want to.
I think they are going to either blow us away or open us to a new retracing like they have with their newfound filmmaking mastery.
Just laid on my bed wandering around in a colorful crystal clear paradise. I remember first watching this CD go into my car CD player and being completely blown away. I didn't do any of my homework that night. This album is just great. This album will make you want to send a long nasty letter to Rolling Stone Magazine for not including it in the Greatest 500 Albums of All-Time issue. "Discovery" is THE perfect title; It's very disco influenced and Discovery was the name of the space ship in 2001: Space Odyssey. It has a theme, the cover looks cool, and every song is amazing. There's a lot of samples but they added so much around them that you can't complain about sampling on this.
Not only does it have silly beats and love songs, but they also have a guitarist who plays solos. This is generic and pointless techno at its worst. And the solos are disgusting. For good techno listen to anything on MTV or the Spice girls. Boy, the Asians are at it again. From the people who bring you Honda racing, Rice, and World of Warcraft.
